The Contemporary Arts Center - Skopje & BALKANIC Association for
international cultural co-operation, and Drivethru Studios Chicago
invite you to the:
INTERNATIONAL ELECTRONIC ARTS FESTIVAL
(01 - 09 October 2003)
To be performed in the Museum of Macedonia, Kurshumli An and, cinema
hall, Club ELEMENT, Center for community mental health - Skopje (WHO)
and Arts Gallery - Bitola.
The festival is intended as a realization of the first phase of the
cultural exchange project between USA and Macedonia between BALKANIC
- Association for international cultural co-operation -Skopje (Gyoko
Muratovski), Chicago Art Institute (Hague Williams & Karen Savage;
Chicago, IL) and Drive Thru Studios, USA (Eric Medine; Chicago;IL) .
The festival will promote the arts expression between these two
countries and will also attract the international attention to the
contemporary visual and multimedia artists from USA and Macedonia.
The artists/lecturers from Chicago, USA include Eric Medine, Ralph
Barton, and Dan Layne. Also featured is the classical violist David
Medine, as a special guest from the Manhattan School of Music, as
well as local Djs and video artists.
Along with the artists' lectures and art workshops there will also be
screenings of video art and animation from around the world, video
and multimedia installations, video documentation, and performances
of electronic music. These will be performed in various places
including the Museum of Macedonia, Kurshumli An cinema hall, Club
ELEMENT, Center for community mental health - Skopje (WHO) and Arts
Gallery - Bitola.
Not only is this festival is open to the public, but a special
invitation has been extended to the students from the School of
applied arts "Lazar Licenovski", Josip Broz Tito - High School, and
the American High School "NOVA", and students from the National Art
Academy.
We are particularly proud to present the lectures "ReWrite your
life", an arts therapy workshop with Dan Layne, and "Create your
Online Identity", a creative writing workshop by Eric Medine. These
are intended to stimulate people with disabilities to take more
active roles in society.
