Shadow Worlds of documenta
14. November: 14:00–18:30 Uhr | 15. November: 11:00–22:00 Uhr
studyroom, Untere Karlsstr. 8, 34117 Kassel
// Bertolt Brecht wrote: “Because some are in the dark / And the others are in the light. / And you see the ones in the light / You cannot see those in the dark.”
But what if it is precisely the shadow that holds the potential for counter-hegemonic organization and work to change existing conditions? Based on this idea, a public program is dedicated to experiences, memories, affects and aspects of the history of documenta that otherwise find little attention in the public. We invite you to put yourself in the shade and watch amateur films, update manifests, exchange memories and critically analyze discourses.
With cinematic contributions by: Heidemarie Peter, Heinrich Poradowski, Helmut Schmalz, Klaus H. Lohmann, R. Gerner, Rainer Lutter and Herbert Westerhoff, Walter Hildebrandt, Walter Langsdorf, Werner Kossin, Wilfried Kaske, Willi Sonnenfeld, Wolfgang Claus
A lecture by Cornelia Sollfrank
A sound performance by Grégoire Rousseau;
Sounds of „Cyberfeminism is not using Words without any Knowledge of Numbers“:
The performance reactivates the 100 anti-thesis on cyberfeminism released by Hybrid Workspace during documentaX.
The bits of the manifesto in digital file are used as raw material, or score, to construct new sound together with a ensemble of self designed
analogue audio instruments. At the same time, “Sounds_of_Cyberfeminism” local area network installed for the purpose in the space will broadcast
the data flow in real time.
And talks with Simon Großpietsch, Kai-Uwe Hemken, Gerhard Panzer, Mirl Redmann
A Project of Mirjam Habtemichael, Katja Häckel, Pia Jansen, Romo Schomerus, Johanna Schreiner
Within the frame of „Medien und Wahrheit“, a seminar of Nora Sternfeld, documenta professor, in cooperation with Alexander Zeisberg, Media Collection, documenta archiv.
