Activist Sense and Urban Ecologies of Care
Summer School for Radical Aesthetics

24-28 September 2018
Casa Azul, Málaga

Over the last ten years social movements have dealt with the consequences of the financial crisis of 2008 and its direct impact on conditions of social life in urban contexts. In this framework, urban practices of self-organization and care combine with an 'activist sense' as new modes of sensuous activation and sense-inventive intervention. The summer school will exchange insights into alternative and resistant modes of inhabiting the city, their media practices and strategies, as well as current discourses on precariousness, commons and care. Through lectures by all participants from different parts of Europe, guided tours and meetings with local actors, a cartography of urban practices of care will be created and their media and aesthetic strategies brought into a translocal context.

Lectures open to the public:
25 September, 20.00: Transdividual Network Systems
26 September, 20.00: The Angel of History
27 September, 20.00: Caring Ecologies
