THE PROGRAM CONSISTS OF LECTURES & CONCERTS

(1946 -- 1994) German pharmacist, artist and musician, she attended
courses with Herbert Eimert, founder of the Studio für elektronische
Musik in Köln at the WDR, became interested in these new sounds and
recorded synthesizer musics privately for many years. Long after, Jan
Jelinek met her son by chance and learned about his mother's hobby,
finally publishing a compilation of music from the scarcely marked
reel-to-reel tapes and HiFi-cassettes.

*Lecture & Concert Mask Mirror by Alessandro Bosetti*

During the artist talk *Alessandro Bosetti *will explain the
architecture of the instrument (built in Max/Msp and M4L) and the
strategies of improvised speech and phonetic improvisation he uses
during his solo sets. He will also give an account of the attempt of
creating a version of Mask Mirror in Korean -- a language he just
partially understands -- in Seoul in October 2013
resulting in a project in collaboration with videomaker Orolo Che and
poet Kim Taeyong.

*MASK MIRROR SOLO PERFORMANCE*

Since 2008 Alessandro Bosetti has been developing an instrument and
software patch. Live in concert he reorganizes speech for musical
purposes with narratives that are about nothing and everything at the
same time. With echoes to the barouqe clusminess of the first mechanical
calculators by the likes of Gottfried Leibniz and Blaise Pascal, Mask
Mirror is guided not by mathematical princliples but rather mines the
unfolding of language and its meaning in random sequence build on blocks
of different sizes ( from Phonemes and incidental mouth noises to
lexical units and prosodic fragments). Bosetti samples his voice with
prerecoreded voices in an electronic ventriloquism.

*SEBASTIEN ROUX*'S Artist Talk & Performance: Sonic Translations

In 2011, I began to develop an approach focused on principles of
translation, analyzing the structures of pre-existing art works (visual,
musical, literary) and transposing them into scores for new works
(radiophonic or electro-acoustic taped music). This process has led to
the creation of: Quatuor (2011), an electroacoustic work based on
Beethoven's 10th String quartet, commissioned by Groupe de Recherches
Musicales (GRM), Nouvelle (2012), a radio work based on Flaubert's short
story The Legend of Saint Julien L'Hospitalier, commissioned by the
Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) and Inevitable Music (2012- ), a series of
pieces based on conceptual artist Sol Lewitt's wall drawings.

The artist talk will consist in presenting the first two translation
pieces :

Quatuor and Nouvelle. For each piece, means of composition will be
explained, by exhibiting original fragments (text, score) and their
sonic translations.*After the artist talk, a multichannel listening
session of Inevitable Music will be presented in a concert situation*.
