The Present Archive

18.03.11 - 27.03.11
Private View: 17.03.11 7 - 9 pm

‘I do get confused about time. If one loses one’s emotional
focus’ – She stopped, struggled, went on huskily – ‘That’s
what happens. Aeons – split seconds – they interchange. One gets
outside the usual way of counting.’

- From The Echoing Grove (1953), Rosamond Lehmann

Comprised of collected film, text, image and sound The Present Archive
is an exhibition that reflects upon the difficulty of defining the
present moment. Engaging with the elasticity of time and duration the
exhibition sets out and overlaps fragments taken from a diverse range
of sources and periods. The material is choreographed within the
space, alternating and spilling between projections, monitors and
speakers in a sequenced pattern. The various, divergent elements
produce a narrative that shifts between timbres, speeds and
temporalities in an attempt to delineate the ever evasive present.

The Present Archive is an ongoing project by Thom O’Nions and
Richard Sides

Perverted Minimalism Nr. 3: Emotional Conclusions and logical matters
Claudia Djabbari, Hedwig Eberle, Anna Friedel and Franka Kaßner.

18.03.11 - 27.03.11

Private View: 17.03.11 7 - 9 pm

Woodmill studio artist Claudia Djabbari presents the third instalment
ofPerverted Minimalism; a touring group exhibition in collaboration
with German artists Hedwig Eberle, Anna Friedel and Franka Kaßner.

Having graduated together in 2006 from the Academy of Fine Arts in
MunichPerverted Minimalismreunites these four artists for a series of
exhibitions held in Düsseldorf, London, Munich and Leipzig; the
cities in which they now reside.

Possessing a shared interest in the conflict between collective and
individual consciousness, Perverted Minimalismpresents work that
investigates political and social structures in conjunction with
formal concerns.

Working across painting, sculpture, video and installation the artists
reconfigure and add to the work included with each leg of the series
creating a flexible and increasingly more complex installation that
contradicts the overall reductive nature of their practices.
