WJ-SPOTS est un dispositif de conférences imaginé par Anne Roquigny, où des artistes, critiques, penseurs, inventeurs, chercheurs, commissaires artistiques et organisateurs d’événement font un point sur l’histoire et le futur de la création artistique sur Internet.
L’événement WJ-SPOTS organisé à la Gaité Lyrique, dans le cadre du festival Mal au Pixel, est l’occasion de rencontrer des personnalités internationales qui commentent et analysent manière dont les artistes investissent le réseau comme un espace de création : créations en ligne, œuvres collectives, net.art, sofware art, code art, ascii art, flash art, google art, twitterart, facebookart, tactical media, locative media, art telematic, performances en réseau, hybridations entre l’espace physique et l’espace virtuel...
Les conférences WJ-SPOTS sont organisées au sein du dispositif multiécrans WJ-S, transformé pour l’occasion en un espace de réflexion. Les interventions durent une quinzaine de minutes chacune, les participants sont soit physiquement présents ou interviennent à distance en visioconférence.
Une navigation dans une sélection de sites Internet emblématiques choisis par les invités est réalisée simultanément par Anne Laforet et Isabelle Arvers sur 3 grands écrans. Le surf live dans ces contenus en ligne est une vision augmentée de la pensée des invités.
WJ-SPOTS est également une publication en ligne des videos des conférence sur le site de Digitalarti et une publication papier éditée par MCD (collection de hors-séries, bilingues français/anglais) rassemblant les textes des participants et la sélection de sites choisis par chaque conférencier.
Les précédentes éditions de WJ-SPOTS ont été présentées à la Maison des Métallos à Paris pendant le Festival Futur En seine et au Festival Transmediale à Berlin.
WJ-SPOT est réalisé avec le soutien du Ministère de la Culture et de la communication - Service de la coordination des politiques culturelles et de l’innovation

WJ - SPOTS is a project imagined and conceived by the media curator Anne Roquigny ; it consists of a series of conferences where artists, critics, thinkers, inventors, researchers, curators, organizers and producers of cultural events are invited to comment on the history and the future of the internet.
The WJ - SPOTS event, organised in Paris at la Gaité Lyrique on the 10th of June 2011 (19H-23H), during The Mal au Pixel Festival, is an opportunity to make a focus on international practices linked to Internet cultures and networks. International web personalities are invited to analyse and question how the Internet has been taken over by artists as a space of creation (online creation, sofware art, code art, ascii art, flash art, google art, twitter and Facebook art, generative art, interactive art, collaborative art, tactical media, locative media, telematic art, telepresence art, network performances, hybrids of physical and virtual worlds).
The 15 minutes WJ - SPOTS presentations are conducted inside the WJ-S multi-screen environment , transformed for the occasion into a space of thought and investigation. Online browsing through a selection of emblematic websites - chosen by the speakers, takes place simultaneously on 3 big screens. The speakers are physically present or they may participate through a video conference program.
Isabelle Arvers and Anne Laforet will be webjaying through a selection of URLs related to each presentation while the participants will be doing their conferences. The real time surfing magnifies and augments the points raised throughout the presentation, offering multiple perspectives on the subject.
After the WJ - SPOTS event, the conferences are edited and will be available via the Internet, on the server of Digitalarti : www.digitalarti.com.
WJ-SPOTS is also collection of special bilingual (French and English) editions, produced and published by the magazine MCD. Each special edition contains the texts of the presentations, as well as the bookmarks of each participant : http://www.digitalmcd.com/ .
Previous WJ-SPOTS have been presented at la Maison des Métallos in Paris during Festival Futur en Seine and at Transmediale Festival in Berlin.
