The RWE Foundation
RWE assumes responsibility for the social environment. This is why
the corporation has continuously pursued various activities in the
public interest as an expression of its civic commitment for many
years. Since 2009, the relevant projects have been pooled in the RWE
Foundation. The objective of this foundation is the sustainable
advancement and support of education and culture, of integration as
well as development of social commitment in children, adolescents,
and young adults.

visit - The Artist in Residence Programme
The foundation promotes young artists with the visit programme by
offering them opportunities for individual design. At the invitation
of the company, the artists develop their respective projects in
about three months. Depending on the theme, this can take place at
the German but also possibly at the company's international locations.

The artistic work should have an explicit reference to RWE, the
subject of energy, and its social relevance. The objective of the
programme is to initiate a reciprocal relationship between the
company and art and the artists, respectively. Interdisciplinary
approaches and a change of perspective promote the understanding of
different lines of thought and help us learn from one another.

Preference is given to the use of electronic media, i.e. the fields
photography, video/film,
or also web art.

Application
The RWE Foundation promotes young artists; participants should not be
older than thirty. The programme is aimed at artists from Germany and
the rest of Europe, with a focus on countries where RWE is present
with staff. The specialised artistic training at a University or an
Academy of Arts is desirable. If the applicant does not hold an
academic degree, the appropriate competence can be demonstrated by
the personal artistic career. The application requires the submission
of an initial sketch of the idea, samples of work (not older than
three years), and a short description of the personal motivation.

As a rule, a jury of external experts and company representatives
examines the submitted applications by the beginning of March, and
makes the decision on the selection of two fellowship holders for the
year.

You will find deadlines, the application form, examples, and
additional information for the
required documents on the website http://www.rwestiftung.com/visit
