Fundación Telefónica would like to invite you to the awards ceremony  
of VIDA 13.0 which will take place on the 10th of February at 6.30 pm  
at the Auditorium of Fundacion Telefonica (C/ Gran Via 28 - entrance C/ 
Valverde 2 - Madrid).

A jury with international prestige selected the winners in this  
edition from the 285 projects presented by artists from 39 countries,  
of which 135 were from the Americas (led by the United States with 27  
projects and Argentina with 28) and 132 from European countries (of  
which 50 were from Spain).

In the Finished Projects category, the top three prizes were awarded  
to the project “Sensitive to pleasure” by the artist Sonia Cillari  
(Italy/Netherlands) as the first prize, an interactive performance  
piece which explores the perception of the body via complex physical  
interfaces; the second prize went to the project “Plantas nómadas” by  
Gilberto Esparza (Mexico) in which a robotic being analyses its  
environment and proposes methods of regeneration for highly  
contaminated natural spaces; and the third prize was awarded to Julian  
Oliver (New Zealand/Germany) for the project “psworld”, a  
computational mechanism which processes and depends on the dynamic  
activity located in a predetermined natural landscape.
Honourable mentions were also awarded to seven projects which showed a  
high level of formal and technological resolution.

After the ceremony a panel discussion will take place between Gerfried  
Stocker, director of Ars Electronica, and Sally Jane Norman, former  
member of VIDA jury, director of Attenborough Centre for the Creative  
Arts and Professor of Performative Technologies at University of  
Sussex. They will be invited to discuss the relevance of digital  
technologies as generators of new artistic languages and artificial  
life forms.

Fundación Telefónica tiene el placer de invitarle a la presentación y  
entrega de premios de los proyectos ganadores de la XIII edición del  
Concurso Internacional Arte y Vida Artificial, VIDA. El acto tendrá  
lugar el jueves 10 de febrero a las 18:30 horas en el Auditorio de  
Fundación Telefónica, c/ Gran Vía, 28 (Entrada por c/ Valverde, 2)  
Madrid.

Un jurado de prestigio internacional ha seleccionado a los ganadores  
de esta edición entre los 285 proyectos presentados por artistas de 39  
países, de los cuales 135 son americanos (destacando Estados Unidos  
con 27 proyectos y  Argentina con 28) y 132 proceden de países  
europeos (50 españoles).  En la modalidad Proyectos Finalizados los  
tres primeros premios han correspondido, respectivamente, a la artista  
italiana Sonia Cillari, al mexicano Gilberto Esparza y al artista  
neozelandés Julián Oliver. Se conceden asimismo menciones honoríficas  
a  siete proyectos que han demostrado tener un alto grado de  
resolución formal y tecnológica. El primer premio ha correspondido al  
proyecto Sensitive to pleasure de la arista Sonia Cillari (Italia). Se  
trata de una performance interactiva que plantea la percepción del  
cuerpo a través de complejos interfaces físicos. El segundo premio es  
para el proyecto  Plantas nómadas  de Gilberto Esparza (México) que  
consiste en una entidad robótica que analiza el entorno proponiendo  
formas de regeneración de espacios naturales altamente contaminados.  
El tercer premio se ha concedido al artista Julian Oliver (Nueva  
Zelanda/Alemania) con el proyecto Psworld, un mecanismo computacional  
cuyos procesos dependen de la actividad dada en un escenario natural  
predeterminado.

Tras la presentación, tendrá lugar una conferencia coloquio en la que  
Gerfried Stocker, director del prestigioso festival ARS Electronica, y  
Sally Jane Norman, miembro del jurado de VIDA, directora del  
Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts y profesora de Tecnologías  
performativas en la Universidad de Sussex charlarán sobre la vigencia  
de las tecnologías digitales como generadoras de nuevos lenguajes  
artísticos y formas de vida artificial. Al final del acto se servirá  
una copa a los asistentes.
