ACHTUNG!
First NSK Citizens’ Congress
21st to 23rd October 2010
at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt
Berlin
Two exhibitions, two evenings with film screenings, one seminar and the closing party with performances and DJs – the First NSK Citizens’ Congress features an extensive public programme.
From the 21st through the 23rd of October, you can find out more about the ‘NSK State in Time’, this living sculpture whose virtual ego will now materialize for the first time. The utopian entity without territorial claims does not identify with any really existing state and has grown to be a collective (art) work with about ten thousand citizens. Created and established in 1992 by the artists’ collective Neue Slowenische Kunst (Laibach, IRWIN, Scipion Nasice Theater Group), this state is an artistic counter project to the nation-state, to the fixation on territories, ethnic groups and borders. For the first time 30 delegates will gather for three days to discuss the future, the present and the past of NSK State in Time.
There will be a public discussion on the questions of the state in the evening seminar, where Inke Arns, Kostis Stafylakis and Viktor Misiano will speak. Two exhibitions (Folk Art and the winning entries to an accompanying poster competition) will be opened on the first evening.
The passport office will be open every evening in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt to offer visitors the opportunity to apply for an official NSK passport.
On two evenings, a film programme will present interesting excerpts from NSK’s work as well as films on related subjects. The ‘First NSK Citizens’ Congress’ will conclude with a closing party with DJs and performances.
