Lanternhouse International and folly are looking for a web developer to
work in partnership with digital artist Sumit Sarkar, to develop an
engaging microsite for Ananta, his ground-breaking new exhibition. The
Ananta experience comprises of digital animations and sculptures, a
radical re-imagining of the Hindu gods.

Ananta will be open to the public at Lanternhouse in Ulverston, Cumbria
from 14th January to 14th March 2009, and will then tour nationally. The
website should go live at the beginning of January 2009.

It is intended that the website will be a source of rich experiences for
national and international audiences, as well as being an information
portal about the exhibition. The web developer will be expected to, in
partnership with Sumit, develop creative interactive content and design
a site which is able to host contextual texts, still and moving images,
visitor information etc, all easily navigable by a variety of potential
audiences. The site will be hosted by Lanternhouse as an extension of
their existing web presence at www.lanternhouse.org.

Expressions of interest and any questions should be sent in the first
instance to Jennifer Stoddart, Projects Manager, folly by email at
jennifer.stoddart at folly.co.uk, or call 01524 388550 during normal office
hours.

Expressions of interest must include a cv, links to previous projects
and an indication of expected costs (to be negotiated with
Lanternhouse).

The successful applicant will be contracted by Lanternhouse to develop
and implement the site throughout December 2008, and should be available
to visit the artist and Lanternhouse in Ulverston throughout that time.

Sumit Sarkar is in residence at Lanternhouse between November 07 and
January 09. This digital artists residency programme is a dynamic
partnership between Lanternhouse and folly, forged to encourage and
foster the development of internationally significant digital artists.

Sumit Sarkar is a Northwest based visual artist, whose character based
artwork takes the form of digital paintings, canvas paintings, digital
sculpture, and aerosol art. The content of work ranges from the
fantastical characters of Sumit's KrikSix world, to his modern
interpretation of the Hindu gods. Sumit also works as a designer,
illustrator and workshop leader, and is involved in various live art
events around the UK.
