Cosal-Ca Club
- Only authentic pieces of art!
by Jerzy Kosalka (PL)

Curator: Agnieszka Kurgan
in Cooperation with BWA Galleries Wroclaw

Cosal-Ca - Made in Poland

Car thieves (Autodiebe) are not the same as " Bicycle thieves" (De Sica's
"Fahrraddiebe"). It should not be surprising that in a sense of harm Polish
nation gave out an avenger. Author of famous, scandalous works "Germans have
come" and "Germans are everywhere" (well known - for politically correct
Polish critics - as thorough amniocentesis of German-devourer ego of
ordinary Pole) comes to Berlin. From Breslau.

He started modestly, as a researcher in LUXUS in the conditions of coarse
socialism. The objects classed among "everyday objects" elsewhere, in
interesting for Kosalka conditions, about 20 years ago, underwent
spontaneous metaphysical metamorphosis. That facilitated work for artists
inspired by western pop-art, and even earlier artistic trends. That was how
such works as "hydro-electric installation" or code-homage for Marcel
Duchamp "Pardon Marcel" were created; both presenting problems of art as
such, and referring to basic sanitary experiences of societies hidden on the
other side of Iron Curtain.

Moving abstract threads to battle painting, inexplicable use of optical
illusion and other media manipulations brought him special fame and
introduction into history of art books and public collections.
Jerzy Kosalka's opus magnum, trans-media subjective brand - Cosal-Ca,
derives from old times when Coca-Cola bottle was a symbol of freedom and
democracy. The project, maturing in Poland together with mentioned ideas,
during the past two decades underwent subsequent liftings, the last of which
were unlimited editions of Cosal-Ca Light and Cosal-Ca Menthol. In August,
in Zero Gallery in Berlin, within Cosal-Ca Club arrangement, the last,
distillation phase which ends the prohibition period in Polish art, will
take place ("distil show" by master of pharmacy and "miraculous conversion
of Coca-Cola into wine") .

Cosal-Ca Club offers also: pretentious, even embarrassing atmosphere
(on-wall artist's retrospective), illusion show ("Golden Fish"), acrobatics
on pub's desktop (by Concita Stembalores - coming back after knee injury)
and go-go dance (dancers: Truskawa 5, female polish curators )

Limited seats, free entrance
Jurek Kosalka asks to seat.
