THANK YOU PRO-HELVETIA



  Edi Muka and Gezim Qendro, on their behalf and on behalf of several 
other cultural operators in Albania wish to express their opinion 
regarding the way the Swiss Cultural Foundation Pro-Helvetia office 
in Tirana is operating lately in respect to several cultural 
initiatives in the country.



-          Thank You Pro-Helvetia for establishing an antenna in 
Tirana, with all the good intentions stated on the front-page of your 
website, regarding promotion and sustain of contemporary cultural 
events until a couple of years ago.

-          Thank You Pro-Helvetia for providing a platform that 
helped substantially free initiatives, totally ignored by the state 
institutions, until a couple of years ago.

-          Thank You Pro-Helvetia for having been open minded and 
very attentive to independent critical initiatives, no matter how big 
or small they were, until a couple of years ago.

-          Thank You Pro-Helvetia for having been able to prioritize 
on the importance of the myriad of ãcultural eventsä having taken 
place in Albania, until a couple of years ago.

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for having chosen as director Mr. 
Petrela, a couple of years ago and for having brought us back on the 
ground with your choice, reminding us that we live in Albania and 
that Pro-Helvetia should not be an exclusion from the general frame 
of corrupted institutions, since a couple of years.

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for not caring anymore to comply 
with what you yourself state in the front-page of your homepage about 
the support for the contemporary cultural events, since Mr. Petrela 
became director (since a couple of years).

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for having decided not to make any 
difference anymore about the projects that best comply with your aims 
stated on the front-page of your website, since a couple of years.

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for having decided on the great 
policy of ãgiving a little thing to everybodyä to make everybody 
happy, and slowly avoid the ones that try for more, since a couple of 
years.

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for having had a board chairman that 
considered your antenna as his personal feud and Albania as his 
personal farm, until a couple of months ago.

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia again for having chosen Mr. Petrela 
as director, doesn't matter that he co-runs a cultural NGO that gets 
most of these ãsmall fundsä, since a couple years.

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for having financed ghost ãcultural 
projectsä that never took place, since a couple of years.

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for always finding an excuse and a 
way out, as a ãboard decisionä, or ãtechnical problemä when getting 
rid of applications that aim for more than the ãa little bit to 
everyoneä scheme, since a couple of years.

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for rejecting the application from 
Tirana Biennale and for choosing not to work anymore with the most 
important cultural events that really try to go deep into the context 
and widen participation from all over the world, thinking that this 
is the best way to change the corrupt reality of our country, (since 
a couple of years).

-         Thank You Pro-Helvetia for having made some of the 
strongest regional initiatives based in Tirana, refuse to collaborate 
with your antenna here, and finally convinced us to join them in 
their decision.



THANK YOU, SINCERELY THANK YOU FOR REMINDING US AGAIN ABOUT THE 
SUBSTANCE OF THE REALITY WE LIVE IN, AND ABOUT OUR (ONCE COMMON) 
QUEST TO TRY OUR BEST TO CHANGE IT.
