Bojana Kunst: "Politics of Affection and Uneasiness" (lecture)

The lecture is dealing with the cultural meetings of the
European East and West, where the recognition of the aesthetic
kinship can hold up a mirror to both sides. At a certain moment,
both West and East somehow performed themselves to each other as
political futures, soon to meet in mutual disappointment.

Dr. Bojana Kunst is philosopher and performing art theoretician
from Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is a member of the editorial board
of Maska Magazine and vice-president of Slovenian Association
for Aesthetics.

Presentation of interactive media and internet art works by Igor
Stromajer (www.intima.org), 1996 - 2004.

Intima Virtual Base is an artistic mark for low-tech tactical
emotional art, contemporary arts actions and sound research.
Basic substance: the intimate, ascetic and interactive
aesthetics. The key words for all activities are seclusion and
ascetics. These imply intimacy, which after all is emphasized in
the name of the artistic mark.

Stromajer will present some of the recent works, like
Ballettikka Internettikka, wPack, S.HTML security, Overcoming
Political Anxiety, The Problem Stock Exchange and others.

Stromajer is an intimate mobile communicator. He researches
tactical emotional states and traumatic low-tech strategies. He
has shown his work at more than a hundred exhibitions in forty-
two countries and received a number of awards. His works are
included in the permanent collections of the Centre Georges
Pompidou, Paris, France; the Museo Nacional Reina Sofía, Madrid,
Spain; Moderna galerija Ljubljana, Slovenia; Computerfinearts
Gallery - net and media art collection, New York, USA; and
permanently exhibited at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, Hamburg,
Germany.

Bojana Kunst and Igor Stromajer: "Impossible Connections"

The presentation will focus on the recent projects created by
Intima Virtual Base: Ballettikka Internettikka
(www.intima.org/ballettikka) and wPack (www.intima.org/wpack),
which are using impossible connections to develop the possible
strategies of resistance and disobedience. The projects are
participating in the already existing protocols of
communication, but without being servile to them, opening up
links between emotionality and technology, production and
ethics, desire and organization, imagination and institution.
The distribution of politics and intimacy without any reason and
purpose, with the use of limited, incestuous, defined and
controlled protocols is a dystopia and a nonservile revolt to
the world of capital, which can be disarmed only with the use of
its own incestuous tactics.
