Arts and Science Research Fellowships

Supported by the Arts & Humanities Research Board, Arts Council England
and the Scottish Arts Council.

The scheme is designed to provide support of up to £38,000 for up to one
year, to support collaborative research specifically between the fields
of the creative and performing arts and science and engineering.

Arts Council England and Goldsmiths College, University of London invite
you to attend the two day conference

Creative Evolution

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th February 2005

How do we come to be what we are?  Through the quintessentially
religious event of creation?  Or through natural-scientific processes of
evolution?  Is there a coming together or nature and culture, mind and
brain in the context of 'creative evolution'?  Does mind evolve from
brain, or do nature and culture stand in a co-evolutionary relation to
one another?  How does creativity (in culture, art and the sciences)
itself evolve?

This colloquium, Creative Brain 1, presented by Goldsmiths College and
Arts Council England, brings biologists, psychologists and information
scientists together with artists, architects and philosophers to address
these themes.  Creative Brain 2, Neuroaesthetics, will follow in May
2005.
