Senior Position in Digital Media and Digital Arts

The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at the University=20
of California (CHASS), Riverside (), invites applications for a senior=20
(associate or full) professorship in Digital Media and Digital Arts.=A0=20
The position will be available July 1, 2004.  The successful candidate=20
will be central to shaping the development of undergraduate and=20
graduate programs for the study of digital art/media technique,=20
execution, and critical analysis in collaboration with the UCR Bourns=20
College of Engineering.  A shared appointment between the colleges is=20
possible.  Ph.D. preferred.  Salary is commensurate with education and=20
experience.

The candidate should have a deep understanding of both the creative=20
processes of media and digital art as well as the technical means and=20
issues related to its production.=A0 They should be conversant in the=20
languages of both digital artists and programmers.=A0 A strong record of=20
productivity in content provision is essential.  Work in the areas of=20
computer graphics and/or interactive design (such as game development,=20
applied virtual environments, interface design) is particularly=20
desirable.  Preferably the candidate should also have background and=20
interest in new media theory, critical theory, and new media research.
