The 1994 documentary A Strong Clear Vision tells the story of Maya Lin,
the young architecture student whose design was selected from amongst
1,421 submissions as the winner of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
competition. Renowned filmmaker Frieda Lee Mock chronicles Lin's career
- from her battle over the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to her role
designing numerous subsequent memorials. Ms. Lin is currently a member
of the 13-member competition jury for the World Trade Center site
memorial, a group charged with selecting the final design. Charlotte
Cohen of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs will deliver the
introduction for the event.

"Microviews/NYC Unit"

A creative exploration of Downtown's past, this exhibit juxtaposes two
projects, curated by artists, that use archives to create a lively and
multi-layered experience of a changing neighborhood, and examine the
implications of historic documents for the contemporary viewer:

Microviews - an archive of World Trade Center images made by resident
artists in LMCC's studio program from 1997-2001. Organized by artists
Christopher K. Ho and Stephan Apicella-Hitchcock with LMCC.

New York City Unit - a look inside the New York City Municipal Archives-
Photography from the Federal Writer's Project, 1935-1942. Created by
artist Matthew Bakkom.

On view at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, One Wall Street Court,
Second Floor; Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 11am-5pm.
