Art Communication  – A Project for Improving the Religious Communication

(Culture.in.mk, 31.05.2002) - The project “Communication in Art” is organised by the 
“Contemporary Arts Centre” and its intention is to establish a communication between the
 two religious schools and communities, the Islamic school (medresa) ISA BEJ in Kondovo
 and the Orthodox school St. Clement of Ohrid in Skopje.
The purpose of this project is to give a chance to the young students to express themselves,
 their own feelings, fears, hopes and visions through art. The Artistic medium we chose for 
making the project and the workshop are the computers as one allegedly neutral form and 
one that will allow the students additional and useful knowledge. 
The students accompanied by one teacher will take part in the workshop that will take place
in the Centre for electronic publication “Metamorphosis” on 1, 2, 8, 9 and 15 June, 2002.
The project includes a lecture for artistic use of the software as Adobe PhotoShop, Microsoft
FrontPage vs. Macromedia Dreamwaver, Macromedia Flash, Introducing Internet and 
Data Bases. 
On June 26 in the CIX Gallery there will be a joint exhibition of the works that will be created 
at this workshop like plotter prints, and at the same time there will be a presentation of the web
 page that the students will make together, as well as a presentation of the documentary film
that will be made on basis of this project.
The participants in the project from the Islamic school (medresa) ISA BEJ from Konodovo will be
Muaz Agusi, Adnan Abdiu, Zekirija Kurtisi and Jasir Abazi lead by their professor Nijazi Abdiu. 
The Orthodox school St. Clemet of Ohrid in Skopje will be represented by Metodij Paramaski, 
Nikola Hristovski, Robert Ilievski and Dejan Mitusev lead by Hegoumenos (Abbot) Metodij 
Zlatanov. The lecturers will be Lara Taskovska, Stevan Shashkov, Goran Shlakeski and the 
co-operators in the project will be the professors Antonela Petkovska and Hans Gugenheim.

The financial support for this project is by the Foundation Institution Open Society – Macedonia
and Arts Council of Switzerland Cultural Exchange East-West.
