The European Media Art Platform (EMAP) is back with new residency oportunities:

European artists and collectives working in the fields of digital art, media art, robotic art, and bio art are invited to apply with a project proposal for a two-month residency taking place between April and December 2026.

As collaboration and networking are among EMAP’s core values, selected artists will develop their EMAP project either with an local artist of their choice or, if preferred, with a local artist proposed by the host institution.

The residency programme includes an invitation to the kick-off conference and networking meeting in Braga, Portugal (8–9 May 2026), a stipend of €4,000 (including living expenses), an additional €2,000 stipend for a collaborating artist or duo partner, a production budget of €4,000, free accommodation, travel expenses, and free access to the technical facilities and/or media labs of the host institution.

In addition, the residency programme includes a professional presentation of the developed work and opportunities to participate in future festivals and exhibitions organised by EMAP members, as well as the possibility of being presented by more than 150 EMAP partner institutions worldwide.

Applications must be submitted online via https://call.emare.eu <https://call.emare.eu/> and must include a CV, (audio-)visual documentation of previous work, and a preliminary project description and work plan for the proposed EMAP residency. Collaborating artists do not need to be confirmed at the time of application.

Applicants must be EU citizens or taxpayers in an EU member state. (Master’s) students are not eligible, while doctoral candidates may apply. Emerging artists, regardless of age or academic degree, are explicitly encouraged to apply. EMAP recommends artists to apply to host institutions outside their country of residence.

Deadline: 13 March 2026 - 14:00 CET.

Detailed information on each host institution’s curatorial focus, available spaces, and technical equipment can be found on the EMAP website.--->Apply now <https://call.emare.eu/>.
