NEW: MA in Cultural Production

International and transdisciplinary Master program for developing sustainable cultural projects

MA in Cultural Production is a new program at the University of Salzburg which by focusing on the interconnections between art, culture and media, as well as political, economical and social processes balances innovative cultural theory with practice-oriented methods. It is a 2,5 year postgraduate program which consists of 5 semesters. Each semester has 2 blocked sessions that are held in Salzburg.

The trans-disciplinary curriculum is laid out at the intersections of art practice, cultural and communication studies, and a social science approach to economy. Cluster topics in relation to Space & Location, Vision & Change and Networks & Decentralization allow for specialisation in one of the central fields of cultural production. Depending on personal interests, students will propose their own project ideas, which will be further developed and implemented in their contextual complexity throughout the program course. The MA program also includes a 3-week internship, individual coaching and a Master thesis.

Applications and all the supporting documents for the 2011/ 2012 academic year must be received by January 30, 2011; in case spaces are still available late applications will be accepted by April 30, 2011.The program tuition is € 2500 per semester. Each semester must be paid in advance. Partial Scholarships are offered.

Für die Realisation verantwortungsvoller kultureller Projekte sind mehr denn je komplexe und integrative Qualifikationen an den Schnittstellen von kulturwissenschaftlichem Wissen, künstlerischer Praxis, Projektmanagement sowie Kulturökonomie gefordert. Der MA Cultural Production reagiert mit einem neuartigen, schnittstellenorientierten Studienprogramm auf aktuelle Herausforderungen  und zeitgenössische Entwicklungen eines sich laufend wandelnden Kunst- und Kultursektors: Das notwendige Verständnis über die Wechselwirkungen von kulturellen Leistungen mit politischen, medialen, ökonomischen und sozialen Prozessen wird in Theorie und Praxis erworben und
anwendungsorientierte Methoden sowie Handlungsoptionen für die nachhaltige Entwicklung eigener und individueller kultureller Projekte entwickelt. Drei Themencluster (Raum&Standort, Vision&Wandel, Netzwerke&Dezentralisierung) bilden dabei die inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte.

Der Lehrgang dauert 2,5 Semester und beinhaltet ein 3-wöchiges Praktikum, individuelles Coaching sowie das Verfassen einer Masterarbeit.

BEWERBUNGEN

Bewerbungen und Dokumente für das Jahr 2011/12 müssen bis  30. Jänner 2011 einlangen; wenn es noch freie Plätze gibt, werden spätere Bewerbungen bis 30. April 2011. Die Kurskosten betragen € 2500 pro Semester und sind pro Semester im Voraus zu bezahlen. Teilstipendien werden angeboten.
