1999 arbeitete Amanda Dunsmore im Rahmen eines artists in residence
Projektes in HMP The Maze, Nord Irland mit Loyalisten und republikanischen
Gefangenen. „The Maze“ Gefängnis entstand aus dem „Long Kesh“
Internierungslager und umfasste einst mehr als tausend Gefangene. Es wurde
zum Schauplatz für symbolischen Protest und radikaler Bewegung was dazu
führte, das es einen speziellen Status und Aufmerksamkeit im Nord Irland
Konflikt erlangte.
Billy Hull war der am längsten dienende Sicherheits-Vollzugsbeamte des
Maze/Lang Kesh Gefängnisses. Billy sammelte ohne Wissen der Gefängnispolizei
Beweismaterial, das in Beziehung zu verschiedenen Menschen, Geschehnissen
und Vorkommen stand. Zu seiner Pensionierung machte Billy ein Museum das
niemals öffentlich zugänglich war

Anger and aggression as phenomena that mark contemporary life are
increasingly tangible in our daily working and living conditions. The nine
artworks shown in the exhibition project anger_aggression use different
methods to reflect on the everyday perception of this central theme –
largely without taking recourse to exceptional situations of the violence of
war or terror.
With this project shown in two spaces (Goethestraße 22 and 30 –formerly
Linzer Bettenhaus), KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd focuses on emotional
compression, unexpected moments and situations, in which energy is released
as expressions of anger or aggression.

Amanda Dunsmore worked in 1999 within an artist - in – residence - project
in HMP The Maze, Northern Ireland with loyalists and republican prisoners.
The prison „The Maze“ arose from the internment camp „Long Kesh“ and
contained once more than one thousand convicts. It became the location of
symbolic protest and radical movement, which led to the prisons special
status and attention in the Northern Ireland conflict. It played an
important role in peace talks and finally was closed on the 29th of
september 2000.
The first work, which developed out of her stay was the video „Billy´s 
Museum“. Billy Hull was the longest serving security enforcement 
officer at the Maze/ Lang Kesh prison. Without the knowledge of the 
prison police Billy collected means of evidence concerning different 
people, appearances and occurrences.
When he retired he built a museum, which never has been open for the 
public.
