The transit lounge is the quintessential transit space, the point where the 
hyper-global + hyper-local coincide; a location which blurs traditional 
conceptions of geo-political boundaries, creating pockets of international 
space within the borders of individual nation-states. An in-between space, 
it exists relative to a fixed departure and arrival point, not to the area 
that surrounds it.

>From the 31st of January - 15th June 2007 the transit lounge project is a 
continuous intervention evolved by a group of Australian and European 
artists and architects working across various disciplines. Conceived as a 
series of overlapping four week residencies, the work will be continually 
cannibalised as each new artist chooses to add to, reassemble or even 
deconstruct the work of the previous participants. It is also a blog where 
project-related themes will be developed, collaborations will be initiated 
and sustained,  and observations on the city will be collected. The transit 
lounge invites you to participate in this transnational conversations by 
commenting the blog and attenting our events.
